Bangladesh is progressing everyday through the shining touch of her young generation. The youth are visionaries and are ultimately concerned with the practical implementation of their visions. They like to engage themselves in humanitarian activities. In this article you will know about some organizations run by young people especially by students. Madaripur Social Service Club (MSSC): Most of the members of this club are college and university going students and some of them are young professionals. The MSSC is run by the monthly donation of its members. It has three ongoing projects–(i) Project NatunJama (ii) Project Ushnota (iii) Project Schooling. National Children Task Force (NCTF): The NCTF is working to monitor and establish child rights in Bangladesh according to The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. All of its members are below 18 years. They are taking various initiatives to stop early marriage, reduce drug addiction, mobilize local resources to develop the society. It also arranges child parliament at national level to make new policy for the betterment of children. Mitali: It is a voluntary organization for social development. Most of the members are students. Mitali has four units–(i) Education unit (ii) Law unit (iii) Child Unit and (iv) Health Unit. Mitali works in Dhaka and Brahmanbaria. Volunteers for Bangladesh: Young social activists are working here. Volunteer for Bangladesh is a wing of Jaago foundation and working in 29 districts at present. Jessore Film Society (JFS): This group arranges shows of good movies containing moral messages. The JFS holds film festival and publishes news letter regularly through which it gives its message to the society. Pushpakoli: Pushpakoli, run by some students, works in Dhaka city. It offers education to street children at Rabindro Shorobor in the capital. Members of Pushpakoli teach the underprivileged children at the weekend. Nazrul Pathagar: Kazi Ismail Hossain and Ariful Haq Pappu took initiative two years back to establish a library at their village in Madaripur. At present the library has a collection of 300 books. Yong people are the target readers of this library. Journalism for Children Team (JFT): The JFT is an organization for children and youth. Members of the JFT are doing journalism and taking steps to change their society. How they gathered: In most of the cases, one or two youth took initiatives to do something for their society. Then they share their ideas in their circles and got support from other young people of their surroundings. How they collect money: The sources of funds of these organizations are-(i) monthly fees from members, (ii) especial fees from members for particular project, (iii) social leaders’ donation and (iv) help from family members and known persons. In a sentence, it can be said that they are mobilizing their local resources. Impact of their initiatives: Underprivileged children become very happy when they get new dresses before Eid day. Rate of Early marriage has been decreased in Bangladesh. People are becoming more conscious day by day. Street children are getting education free of cost. People are getting free medical tips and check up facilities through health campaign. Besides, the students who are involved in these social activities are becoming more skilled, experienced and expert for their future life. They are inspiring other people of the society to develop the society. |
