“Shakuni Lake” is one of the most attractive and beautiful sites of Madaripur. Shakuni Lake is like the central park (New York) of Madaripur. It influences the mind and culture of society. Thousands of people from every walks of life visit this magnificent Lake every day. Surprisingly the number became tenfold after the renovation of the Lake in 2013 by Madaripur Municipality. There are ample sitting facilities around the Lake though it’s hard to find space in the afternoon because people seek calmness after a hectic day. But people are very casual about the Lake, disrupting the innate beauty of the Lake.
“Report To Mayor” is an initiative taken by the Actions Contributing to Transformation (ACT) Foundation in 2021 to monitor and highlight inconsistencies of Shakuni Lake. It is a lengthy and exhausting task to inform an opinion or complaint to the municipality. So why not monitor and express our observations through the internet? “Report to Mayor” comes from this very simple context. In the meanwhile, Our idea resonated with the municipal authority and got a quick response.
Anyone can take pictures or text about the inconsistency that occurred in front of them in Lakepar. There is a Facebook private group titled “REPORT TO MAYOR”. They can post all of their complaints and opinions to the group.
