The collaborative efforts of ACT Foundation, the Govt. Laboratory School batch of 1995, and the Ihsan Initiative of Bangladesh. This triumvirate of goodwill has carved a path toward sustainable livelihood for Anik Hawlader, a young man whose life was altered by the events of August 5, 2024.
Anik, a victim of the student movement’s unfortunate escalation, found his world upended until a beacon of hope emerged through ACT Foundation’s initiative. Recognizing the need for substantial support, these organizations converged to not only address immediate needs but also ensure long-term sustainability for Anik and others like him.
Early January witnessed a significant visit to Anik’s newly established shop by key members of this initiative. Co-founder of ACT Foundation, Shamim, along with myself and Sajib, the project’s coordinator, and Mohammad Chowdhury from the Ihsan Initiative, assessed the progress of Anik’s business venture. The air buzzed with a sense of potential as we explored the various facets of his operation, evaluating the viability and future prospects of his enterprise.
Our findings were heartening. Anik’s shop has not only provided him a steady income but also a platform to rebuild his life with dignity. The success seen in these early stages has paved the way for further investment, ensuring that his journey towards financial independence continues to ascend.
Mohammed Chowdhury, representing the Ihsan Initiative, has pledged to mobilize additional funds, underscoring a committed partnership that extends beyond initial relief efforts. This collaboration exemplifies a model of development that ACT Foundation aims to replicate across other projects, focusing on creating lasting impacts through community-driven initiatives.
