Finish what you START

March 5, 2020

We all know the difference between fashion and style. Yes, Fashion is a trend and this trend changes frequently—often yearly. Style is a personal adaptation of fashion. Writing on a book once I finished that is my style, I consider. And this is the high time to talk about such book “Finish what you start” as we are now on new year resolution!

I just finished the book and this is the first time I’ve been introduced with Peter Hollins writing. To execute any plan focus, self-discipline, action, and persistence all are equally important. However, it’s not just easy as knowing I have to do it and thus doing it. There are powerful reasons we don’t finish what we start. These reasons can generally be split into two camps: inhibiting tactics and psychological roadblock.

Inhibiting tactics are the ways we plan against ourselves without even realizing it. They include setting bad goals, procrastination, indulging in temptation and distraction, and poor time management.

Psychological roadblocks are the ways we don’t follow through because we are unconsciously protecting ourselves. These include laziness and lack of discipline, fear of judgement, perfectionism, and lack of self-awareness.

I found the following chapters of this book very interesting and materials of takeaways; Stop thinking-Just execute, Create a Manifesto, The science of smashing procrastination, and deadly pitfalls.

This book will help you to evaluate your last year plan VS achievement at the same time to make new year resolution. So, before starting your new year resolution, “Finish what you start” is a must-read book.

Never stop learning.
Happy new year 2020!
